This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the director of Reconnect, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting entities that work with individuals experiencing high levels of dysfunction in their interpersonal relationships. Its goal is to help organizations provide solid, evidence-based services through three fundamental pillars:
- Expanding and sharing knowledge: conducting research that enhances the evidence on effective interventions.
- Providing training: equipping staff with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective service delivery.
- Offering support providing clinical management, mentoring, and supervision for staff working in specialized services.
Reconnect's director, Jonathan Fowler, is an expert in group facilitation with extensive experience as a therapist. He specializes in addressing violence and abuse in intimate and family relationships. Throughout his professional career, he has delivered numerous training sessions for other professionals and collaborated on research with experts in intimate partner violence.
Last Friday, February 7, the team members of the Programa Contexto attended a seminar led by Jonathan Fowler on the relationship between childhood trauma and intimate partner violence.
Throughout the week, several team members accompanied Jonathan on a visit to the Programa Contexto facilities, where we exchanged knowledge on intervention with intimate partner violence perpetrators. Without a doubt, it was an enriching experience that will contribute to the advancement of scientific research in this field and strengthen our work in intervention with IPV perpetrators.
